The ocean takes on a different quality in the winter. The water, even when not choked with ice, seems thicker somehow, more syrupy...Tidal rivers inland freeze into thick layers. As the tide moves in and out, it breaks the ice into chunks. Wind and tide serve as conveyor belts to drag these toward open ocean. On occasion, we find chunks big enough that we can run our kayaks right on top of them, or dock our paddleboards next to them, and climb onto these temporary islands.

For years, we've been paddling throughout the winter, and wondering where everyone else was! So this year, we've geared up and decided to invite you all along! We have rental wetsuits, booties, and gloves available, so all you have to do is bring your sense of adventure, coffee mug, and join us for one of the most memorable experiences you'll have all winter!

Tours will meet at our shop where we'll get into our wetsuits, have a quick safety and "things you'll want to know" meeting, and then head to the water. We'll paddle for 1.5 to 2 hours depending on weather, including a stop for a coffee or hot cocoa break (seriously, bring your coffee mug).
