On The Water

Standup Paddleboard and Kayak Lessons

Looking to paddle, but not quite sure where to start? We have several different options for lessons, from half-hour mini lessons, beginner paddling lessons, specific skills clinics, and more!

Standup Paddleboard and kayak Rentals

We offer rentals for both standup paddleboards and kayaks out of two great locations! Rentals start at just $20, and can be booked online with both hourly and daily rates!

Group Paddle Events, CLinics, and workshops

We love paddling, but even more than that, we love getting on the water with friends or soon to be friends. Throughout the summer and winter, we offer many different group paddles- some with pints, some with picnics, some with sunrises and some with sunsets!

Salem Willows

To say we're happiest at the Willows is no exaggeration. (And it's not just because of the popcorn). Designated a public park in 1858 and turned into an amusement park in 1880, this stunning ocean-side park featured boat slides, rollerskating rinks, and a casino. In it's hay day, the park drew as many as 10,000 visitors, many drawn by famous singers such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Louis Armstrong.

Today, the Willows is still a charming, beautiful ocean-side park, offering food, entertainment, and, of course, paddling, to park-goers from all over Massachusetts. Come see why we think the Willows is one of the best places to paddle on the North Shore!

Independence Park

Lest it seem we play favorites, let us tell you why we also love Independence Park in Beverly. The sandy beach and protective cove make it a great place to launch boards and kayaks, but it's the residents and visitors that frequent the park that make us proud to call this home. A little over three years ago we dropped off our first rental here, and since then have been welcomed by the regular beach-goers.

Now in our fourth season, we're proud  to say we've introduced thousands of people to paddling on this little known gem of a beach, know every rock on the way to the water, and have come to call the regular beach-goers and neighbors our friends, looking forward to greeting them as each summer season rolls around. And now with a daily kiosk set up just feet from where John Glover first read aloud the Declaration of Independence, and where a group of militia successfully defended a naval attack by a British Warship, we couldn't be more proud of our local neighborhood beach!

The Shop

Aside from our two kiosk locations, you can also find us in downtown Beverly on Cabot Street, about a block from Cabot Cinema. In fact, this is where our whole operation is run. It's also where we host workshops, clinics, and where we meet for our Winter Paddle Tours.

We're a paddling outfitter, which means our floors are often sandy and boards and kayaks are frequently absent from the shop. It also means that, while you won't find our shelves stocked with cheap trinkets you can buy on Amazon, you will find items that we think are useful and use ourselves everyday. Whether its equipment to make paddling safer or easier, or just cool things we've found that make the whole paddling life better, we make sure to share with you the things we love!

Adventure Gear Exchange

The Earth is a big, beautiful place, and we think we should all do what we can to keep it that way. At the Adventure Gear Exchange, we re-adventure your no-longer-used gear by getting it in front of people looking for exactly what you no longer need. This not only keeps your old gear out of the landfill, but keeps them from needing to by new gear and having all of the associated environmental costs with it. Have something you want to get rid of, or looking for something specific? Click below and see if we might have just what you're looking for!

Paddling technique, culture, and history.

We spend most of our time paddling. When we're not paddling, we're scouring the internet for videos about paddling. We want to share some of those videos here with you. Check back from time to time as we post some of our favorite videos that we stumble upon. While most of them will take place around standup paddleboarding or kayaking, from time to time there will be other themes such as canoeing, sailing, rowing, conservation, or anything else that seems relevant to the on-the-water community as a whole.

With big sponsorships, and the money that follows, going mostly to paddleboard racing, it's easy to forget there's so many other things you can do on a paddleboard besides "go fast". These paddlers from Japan have incredible balance for sure, but it's often their blade work, in the form of bracing and sweep strokes, that allows them to pull off some of the precise maneuvers that they do.

from the video:

Mostly good tunes, because we don't speak Japanese :)
