Merrimack River- Amesbury

The Merrimack River flows South from central New Hampshire, making a dramatic turn to the East just before flowing through the historic mill towns of Lowell and Lawrence. We'll take to the river just a bit further downstream, launching from Amesbury and paddling beneath the impressive I-95/Whittier Bridge as salt water from the Atlantic mixes with the fresh water coming down from its surrounding watershed. Though it's a powerful river with big tides, we've planned the route so that the tides will be working in our favor the entire time, so we can simply paddle and enjoy the scenic river, full of wildlife!

I love checking out new places, sign me up!

O' Christmas Tree Paddle

There’s a little cove we know, tucked away at the top of Salem Harbor, where the Christmas Spirit shines just a little brighter. In the middle of the cove, a Christmas tree floats, lit up for any and all who drive or paddle by. Join us the weekend before Christmas as we launch from our Salem Willows location and paddle to this tree. If weather and temperature allows, we’ll huddle on our boards and kayaks, drinking hot cocoa, sipping sparkling cider, and, if you want to sing some Christmas carols, well, certainly no one is going to stop you :).

Downtown Ipswich River Paddle

During the winter, while the upper part of the Ipswich River is frozen over in a winter wonderland, the lower part continues to flow free as the tide moves in and out. On this scenic winter paddle, we’ll launch from the public boat ramp in downtown Ipswich, we’ll paddle out on a slack tide, meandering our way toward the mouth of the river as it flows by Crane Beach into Plum Island Sound. On our return, we’ll float easily with the flood tide as it flows back in toward the downtown area.

Starbucks Paddle

Join us as we embark on one of our customer (and staff) favorites!

The Starbucks Paddle was dreamed up years ago by one of our friends and former guides, Steve. He saw the beauty of the Bass River, which ran right by his home in Goat Hill, Beverly, and knew it would make the perfect setting for an adventure paddle to Starbucks on Eliot Street. A short paddle from Obear Park in Beverly lets us ride the incoming tide all the way up the Bass River to where it meets Rt. 62. There, we'll take out on the river banks, pile into Starbucks (we recommend leaving your paddle outside :) ) and pick up the drinks that we have conveniently ordered ahead of time. We'll sip our drinks overlooking the tidal river before getting back on the water and riding the ebbing tide back out.

*Price of event includes one drink of your choice. If you wish to order anything additional, please feel free to bring a long some extra cash for ordering once there.

StrongBoard Class and Sunset Paddle

We think the phrase "Work hard, play hard" makes a lot of sense. Which is we've teamed up with Rachael Novello, owner of The Simply Fit Studio in Danvers, to bring you this special event.

Rachael will lead us through a 30 minute workout overlooking beautiful Beverly Harbor, incorporating StrongBoards to closely mimic the sensation of being on a paddleboard. After a little grunting, a lot of sweating, and even more laughing (helps work the abs :) ), we take to the water for a relaxing cool down sunset paddle.

Join us for the perfect combination of workout and water!

Kayak Rescue Skills Clinic

Kayak Rescue Skills Clinic

Sea kayaking is a fun and exciting sport, and a great way to explore your local coastline, harbor, or bay. However, there are important skills that need to be developed in order to manage risk and allow for a safe and fun experience.

Though modern kayak designs offer a blend of stability and speed, there is still the risk that a kayak might flip over, even on relatively calm days. In the event of a capsize, it's important to know how to exit the kayak, empty it of water, and re-enter the kayak quickly and efficiently. If you plan on paddling away from the coast, where swimming to shore is not an option, these skills are crucial to returning safely.

During the kayak rescue skills clinic, we will cover:

wet-exits
two-person T-rescues
two-person eskimo rescues
self-rescues (assisted)
self-rescues (unassisted)
