Ipswich River Paddle

Ask us where our favorite place to paddle away from the ocean and we're bound to say the Ipswich River. We love taking paddlers to explore the river, whose true beauty can only be glimpsed from the roads as you drive by.

Spring is one of the best times to explore the river! We’ll follow the river as it winds beneath freshly flowered trees and past beaver huts showing signs of new activity from their furry architects! We’ll paddle against the mild current to start, and then enjoy an easy float back with the flowing river.

Sounds like paradise, sign me up!

Chebacco Lake

This week we're venturing to Chebacco Lake! Over 10,000 years ago, the last of the glaciers retreated North, leaving behind deep gouges and depressions, which, luckily for us, have filled to become the many lakes and ponds that dot the Northshore! One of these, Chebacco Lake, sits half in Hamilton and half in Essex, and provides a perfect sanctuary when the ocean is a bit too rough. Come explore the lake with us as we paddle by lake-side cottages and in and out of the many coves that form the lake's perimeter.

Would love to check that out, sign me up!

Obear Park/Danvers River Paddle

Obear Park is a little known gem on the Danvers River, nestled just upriver from where the Bass River flows into the Danvers River, and just downriver from where the Waters and Crane River converge to form the Danvers River. So situated, it provides the perfect launching spot to explore this expansive ecosystem. Floating on a high tide, we’ll follow these rivers as they wind their way between Beverly, Danvers, Salem, and Peabody, paddling past riverside homes, under elevated docks, and through beautiful salt marsh. Join us on this paddle and gain a new appreciation for these beautiful waterways that are usually only glimpsed from passing roads!

Advanced Coastal Kayak Tour

Join us for an advanced kayak tour along the beautiful North Shore coast! Depending on conditions on the day of the paddle, we’ll launch somewhere between Manchester-by-the-Sea and Gloucester. If conditions are flat, we’ll try to put some miles behind us and explore a significant part of the coast. If it’s a little bumpier, we’ll explore slightly offshore islands and have fun playing in the bumps and swell.

In order to join this group, paddlers should feel comfortable paddling a sea kayak in open water, and be able to maintain a sustained 3 mph pace. It is not necessary to know how to roll a kayak, though experience doing wet exits and rescues is recommended. There will be instructors to help coach you through any slightly difficult conditions we encounter.

Can’t wait to explore, sign me up!

One of our favorite local rivers gets even more magical around Christmas time! Join us the weekend before Christmas as we launch from our Salem Willows location and paddle to this tree. Merrimack River- Amesbury

The Merrimack River flows South from central New Hampshire, making a dramatic turn to the East just before flowing through the historic mill towns of Lowell and Lawrence. We'll take to the river just a bit further downstream, launching from Amesbury and paddling beneath the impressive I-95/Whittier Bridge as salt water from the Atlantic mixes with the fresh water coming down from its surrounding watershed. Though it's a powerful river with big tides, we've planned the route so that the tides will be working in our favor the entire time, so we can simply paddle and enjoy the scenic river, full of wildlife!
